If you're trying to solo a target... then yes specialization may be an issue, but if you are group-targeting something specialization may as well be moot in the Forge field.

It's only milliseconds if you're not paying attention to the armor/shield of the tank. everyone who looks at the HP gets a good 3-4 seconds of prep-time to realize the tank is about to blow.
